Because our work is about contributing to defining a new field of interdisciplinary inquiry, Tug is always in the process of exploring partnerships with creative research initiatives, universities, colleges, cultural organizations, and community activists. It is our hope that these partnerships will have the tangible effect of creating spaces of interaction that will link us, spatially and temporally, with other communities of identification and expression. In an effort to explore such partnerships, we are always open to sharing ourselves and our work vis-à-vis performances, exhibitions, workshops, and extended residencies, all of which can be designed to fit a specific community, time, and location. Possible workshop/residency activities include, but are not limited to:
Windows on the Work: an informal presentation that addresses the making of any of our works, from conceptual impulses to artistic choices.
Senses of Place: a locative media workshop that gives participants the opportunity to explore the social navigation of lived environments.
Sound Dreaming: an interactive workshop in which participants are asked to find a sound while in a meditative state, and then (once awake) to begin to work with the sound by locating its various characters.
Disciplined Subjectivity and Performative Ethnography: a talk centered on cultivating the ability to find performative points of congruence between the culture that one is looking at and moments of personal response.
The Role of the Artist in Contemporary Society: a roundtable discussion that contemplates how, as artists, we can be present and accounted for in our communities.
